ANNE FRANK HUMANITARIAN AWARD

TO STEVEN SPIELBERG

FOR THE MOVIE “SCHINDLER’S LIST”

Pinsker created this Humanitarian Award, called “Mother and Child,” which was given by “The Anne Frank in the World” Committee to Hollywood Director Steven Spielberg and his two co-producers, Branko Lustig and Jerry Molen, for their Academy-award winning film, “Schindler’s List.” The award ceremony took place at the opening of this very special “Anne Frank in the World” Exhibit at the Newport Beach Art Museum in 1995.

SPECIAL AWARD TO HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON

FOR THE BOOK “IT TAKES A VILLAGE”

An edition of this award was later given to Hillary Rodham Clinton by Essie Pinsker after she read the book, “It Takes a Village.” The book so moved her that she was prompted to call the White House and offer an edition of “Mother and Child” to Mrs. Clinton. This time, it was to be Pinsker’s own Special Award to Mrs. Clinton, and surprise of surprises, she accepted it. Funny, how one small special piece can find its home if the intrinsic message it imparts is so right for the occasion.
