ARISTEIA

KOCE COMMISSIONS SERVICE AWARDS

Mel Rogers, president of Orange County, California’s PBS Station KOCE, commissioned Essie Pinsker to create their first Community Service Awards. This sculpture award honors individuals who provide an outstanding citizenship and service. Named “Aristeia” by Pinsker, this is an ancient Greek word meaning “prize for excellence, prowess... the best and the bravest.” That definition fired Pinsker’s creative juices which then evolved into the concept of a flame, a flame that signifies a soaring spirit, a spirit of excellence in all endeavours.
